Zhejiang University is an institution of higher learning with a long history and outstanding reputation, located in Hangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in China and a scenic tourist attraction. Qiushi College, the predecessor of Zhejiang University, was founded in 1897, which is one of the earliest new institutions of higher learning established by China people themselves. In 1928, it was named National Zhejiang University. During the Anti-Japanese War, Zhejiang University moved westward, running schools in Zunyi, Meitan and other places in Guizhou for seven years, and moved back to Hangzhou in the autumn of 1946. In 1952, when the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted, some departments of Zhejiang University were transferred to brother universities and China Academy of Sciences, and the main part left in Hangzhou was divided into several single-discipline colleges, which later developed into the original Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University respectively. In 1998, four universities with the same roots merged to form the new Zhejiang University, and embarked on a new journey of creating a world-class university. During his work in Zhejiang, Xi Jinping personally contacted Zhejiang University, visited Zhejiang University for 18 times and gave a series of important instructions on the reform and development of the school. In April, 2023, on the eve of the 15th Party Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping once again gave important instructions to the school and drew a grand blueprint for building a world-class university with China characteristics at a high level. In the course of running a school for 127 years, Zhejiang University has always been adhering to the fine tradition of "seeking truth and innovation" as its motto, taking the world as its own responsibility and relying on truth, and gradually formed the common values of "being diligent, Xiu De, discerning and honest" and the spirit of "embracing rivers and rivers, enlightening the truth and cherishing morality, opening up the past and building our country".
