China University of Science and Technology is a science and engineering university affiliated to China Academy of Sciences, which focuses on cutting-edge science and high technology, as well as medicine, characteristic management and humanities. The school has 32 colleges, including 8 science and education integration colleges; There are Suzhou Institute of Advanced Studies, Shanghai Institute, Beijing Institute, Advanced Technology Institute, International Finance Institute and the First Affiliated Hospital (Anhui Provincial Hospital).
The school was founded in Beijing in September 1958, with Guo Moruo as the first principal. This is a red university founded by the older generation of revolutionaries and scientists of our party for the cause of "two bombs and one satellite", and its establishment is called "a major event in the history of education and science in China". After its establishment, China Academy of Sciences implemented the policy of "running a school in the whole hospital and combining departments", trained cutting-edge scientific and technological talents in emerging, marginal and interdisciplinary fields with a high starting point and wide caliber, and brought together a number of famous scientists such as Yan Jici, Hua Luogeng, Qian Xuesen, Zhao Zhongyao, Guo Yonghuai, Zhao Jiuzhang and Bei Shizhang. In the second year of its establishment, it was listed as a national key university.
