Medical consumables refer to disposable sanitary materials, human implants and medical devices that can be reused and easily worn after disinfection. They are often used in the process of developing medical services in hospitals, with various varieties and models and a large amount of applications, and are the material basis for hospitals to carry out daily medical and nursing work [1]. In the management of medical consumables in hospitals, the management mode of "zero inventory" has been adopted by many hospitals. "Zero inventory" refers to the use of modern media and means of transportation, and the use of related production and business units as storage units to minimize the storage of materials in this unit and greatly improve the capital efficiency. It is a means of contemporary social progress and productivity improvement, which requires people engaged in production, circulation and service industries to carry out material circulation and operation more effectively [2]. "Zero inventory" of high-value consumables is to set the minimum inventory and establish a rapid supply network [6]. This paper discusses the significance, management methods and matters needing attention of "zero inventory" of high-value consumables.

1 high-value consumables "zero inventory" meaning

1.1 to meet the needs of hospital clinical work:

At present, the application of modern communication tools, modern logistics distribution and computer information makes it possible for hospitals to implement "zero inventory" management of high-value consumables. There are many kinds of high-value consumables in hospitals, with complex specifications and strong professionalism. In many cases, the types and specifications of materials can only be determined during surgery, which has the characteristics of reverse logistics. Through these modern means, the hospital makes the application timely, the purchase confirmation fast, and the management of warehousing and warehousing is accurate and controllable, which changes the previous passive storage and supply mode [3].

1.2 reduce the backlog of hospital funds:

With the innovation of medical technology and the expansion of hospital scale, the use of high-value consumables has increased greatly. Huang Liangmou reported that the medical consumables in a hospital were 6.045 million in 1992 and increased to 160 million yuan in 2003 [1], and the consumption of high-value consumables in our hospital in 2008 was about 60 million. In the past, the management mode of high-value consumables in hospitals was "purchasing inventory distribution". If the previous management mode is still adopted now, it will inevitably lead to a large backlog of funds and increase the difficulty of warehouse management. Adopting the "zero inventory" management mode of first use and then warehousing can effectively exert the efficiency of funds, reduce the financial pressure of hospitals, and make hospitals achieve the effect of "no-cost management" in the procurement and supply of high-value consumables [4]. But also can effectively supervise the use of consumables [3] and solve some waste phenomena in inventory management [5]. Therefore, "zero inventory" management has more outstanding advantages for the management of high-value consumables.
